Day 12 - October 23, 2011 - Sunday – Albany, Detroit, Denver; Delta Flights Home

It was dark and cold (43°) taking our son Eduardo to the Albany/Rensselaer AmTrak station at 7:15. After saying good-by we went back to the hotel, showered, had a bite to eat, and checked out of the Quality Inn & Suites.

We left for the airport early to allow enough time to get gas and return the rental car to Avis. This was a very easy process and the price was the same we had negotiated with Costco.

There were not many people at the airport so the folks at the check in counter gave us special service. Our bags were on the way to Denver and we started through security.

Gennie sailed right through and the guys at TSA were very happy to look at each of my three cameras and to talk about all of my electronics. We found our gate, just when the 9:15 flight to Detroit had just departed the gate.

The gate agent told us he could have gotten us on that flight but it was too late for our bags and we would have had to sit in Detroit. There was no point in changing flights, and they had free WiFi in Albany – a decision maker!

Gennie worked on the last day of the journal and I looked at the owner’s manual of the D-60. The TV in the lobby was showing the Sunday news programs helping us learn all the news we had missed while we were on the road as we do not watch TV while on vacation.

Our flight to Detroit left on time and the small commuter jet was full. There was a brief lay-over and the connecting flight was also on time. Our entire trip home was very easy and went as smoothly as possible.

Our luggage came our quickly at DIA and we got the shuttle to Pikes Peak – lots of people going home on Sunday afternoon and the bus was packed. Glad to see the sun!!!!

After a brief stop at Safeway in Castle Pines we were home by 7:00 – we were happy to be back home and to find everything in perfect order.

Tabulating our driven mileage Albany to Albany = 2564 miles.

Just in Albany, NY with our son Eduardo = 84 miles.

We would like to note that this trip encompassed our 99th country. This is based on the parameters established by Click Here: The Travelers' Century Club.

Our tabulation is based on their list found at Click Here: Countries

Accommodations: Home Sweet Home
