Day 2 - Sunday, September 9, 2001
We arrived at Rome’s airport around 8:30 AM and after we got our luggage we met the people from Trafalgar Tours. We were told that we would have to wait for our guide Michael, who would not be back until 12:30 PM for the second group.
We waited in the terminal by exploring, exchanging some money, and talking to each other and new people we met.
A little after 12:30 we were met by Michael, taken to our hotel – The Holiday Inn, St. Peters. It is a nice facility and close to downtown and very centrally located.
After checking in and getting our luggage in our room, we got things organized, took a shower and then got ready for the events of the day.
At 5 PM we had a reception in one of the conference rooms at the Holiday Inn, had a welcome drink, told of the rules and guidelines of our trip and were informed of the optional trips we could take to enhance our experience. We agreed to take the initial one that was offered – a tour of Rome and dinner.
We left the hotel with Anna, a very beautiful Roman guide. We were given an overview of this striking city of the seven hills.
After a couple of hours of seeing the sights, we were taken to a restaurant where we had our first Italian meal - bread, wine, appetizer plate, salad, and then the main course. There was a lot of music and entertainment.
When we went back to the Holiday Inn we were ready to crash.
