Day 02 - Monday, March 3, 2025 – Flight from Frankfurt, Germany to Valletta, Malta; Meet Trip Experience Leader; Freedom to Explore
Our journey across the Atlantic was relatively smooth. We traveled via the polar route, north through the Dakotas, over Canada, past the southern tip of Greenland, and then over the British Isles to Germany.
We arrived in Frankfurt early, however, our connection was a little tight. As it turned out, we were able to go through customs and immigration quickly and then found our gate for our flight to Malta with time to spare.
Also waiting to travel to Malta was a group of 52 Danish students from a high school near Copenhagen. Vic talked to them about our friend and former exchange student, Jesper. We wished their teachers good luck as we remembered our international field trips and soccer tournaments abroad.
The final leg of our journey was two hours from Frankfurt to Valletta in Malta. After getting our luggage, we met the representative from OAT along with a group of eight more of our fellow travelers. A driver took us on a winding road flowing the coast to our hotel.
Arriving at 5:15, we met Aziz, our Tour Leader for the Red Group, who welcomed us and gave us our keys to the room. We unloaded our bags for just one night here and then showered and worked on the journal and photos for Day 2.
We met the other 92 members of our small ship at dinner in the hotel. Our groups will be divided into four smaller teams, continuing the OAT tradition of special attention. This promises to be an exciting adventure, thank you for all of your comments and for following our Mediterranean Navigation.
