Mayan Riviera

February 8, 2007 – Thursday – Iberostar Paraiso del Mar

Woke-up at 8:30 – AH Paradise!

The sun is out, the sky is blue, and all is well with the world!

Breakfast buffet at main restaurant at 9:40

Room to organize and send a few of our wet and soiled clothes to the laundry

Walked to hotel main entrance to photograph

Returned to reception area and met Poulsens

Gennie & Jesper made reservations for optional excursions.

Went for lunch at one of the many poolside cafes and buffets

Found an area on the beach and spent the rest of the afternoon watching the other tourists. Marveled at the uprooted, toppled, and twisted trees from the winds of Hurricane Wilma. The long peer that was here three years ago is no more – taken out by the storm and not replaced

Not too many sales vendors on the beach

Walked south along the main tourist beach and saw another enormous hotel complex being finished, gardeners at work planting tall palms as well as the ground cover in the new gardens

Went back to turn in the towels and the girls wanted to swim in the pool a bit. We joined them for a refreshing dip.

Back to the room to shower and get ready for dinner at the Gourmet Restaurant at 9:00.

We did some evening photography, checked the internet, and met the Poulsens for drinks.

We had a delightful dinner with wonderful service at El Colonial, and returned to our room at 11:00.
