Day 1 - Saturday, November 27, 2004 - Flight Amman, Jordan to Cairo, Egypt - Return to Cairo

We arrived at the airport in Amman just at 5:35 and Samir, our Jordan Trip Director said goodbye and we were passed on the OAT representative who helped us through with all the paper work. It was quite easy when one knows what to do. We were taken to the departure room and waited for our Cairo flight to board.

Through the whole process we had two security clearances to go through. When we were ready to board, we had to go passed another. The aircraft was full and very warm. Gennie and I were given right side, window and middle with the Emmons getting the aisle seat on both sides.

How lucky, but it was only an hour flight so we tolerated it. The flight attendants served beverages and a meal on this flight also and had our dishes cleared as we landed.

We deplaned into a bus and once into the terminal we were greeted by the OAT airport representative who got us through check in and customs - explaining what we had to do through the whole process. When we picked up the luggage they were there to load them on to a cart.

Customs chose Gennie's bag to check and after a few minutes they cleared all of us through. We were taken to meet Sherry (her Egyptian name is difficult) and she welcomed all of us. We were taken to the bus and after a three minute drive we were at the Cairo Airport Movenpick Hotel. We will be here for two nights and then take an early flight to Luxor.

Once in the hotel we were given our keys, asked to come down for a drink and brief orientation and then we were going to have dinner!!! All we do is eat on this trip! We had a short talk on drinking water, bus procedures, our paperwork and tomorrow's agenda.

We then went to the restaurant for dinner at 11 PM. I had my usual salad and then we went back to our room to write this journal and try to send it off. We have a wireless system but very low signal strength and I will have to pick up a card to get a password and pin number.
