Day 1 - 04/07/06 Fly from Denver
The weather on Monument Hill was fierce - blowing snow and only 30 degrees. It had been 55 yesterday and was to be 72 on Sunday. What a difference a day makes in Colorado. We had our bags loaded and ready to go at 2 PM. As we went north the weather improved and by the time we got to
DIA we had a sunny day with blue skies. There was not much traffic and because Eduardo took us right to the departure area, we had a lot of time. We said goodbye to Eduardo, who will watch the house and stay with our cats and then pick us up our return in 18 days.
There were no problems checking in. TSA must trust me again. The ticket agent reminded us we had plenty of time and invited us to go to the President's Lounge on Concourse A. What a nice surprise - in all of our flights on Lufthansa we have never been treated to that amenity. We enjoyed the quiet and complimentary snacks and beverages while we waited for our flight.
About 5 PM we took a short walk to Gate A41 and saw that our flight was going to be a full one. As we boarded the flight it was nice to know Gennie had worked to prearrange our seating so we had plenty of room to settle-in. Our fellow passengers in Business Class seemed congenial and we passed an easy evening and had a pleasant dinner. At around 10 PM the lights were dimmed and we were able to get some sleep.
