Novotel London Waterloo Hotel, London, England

"NICE HOTEL BUT NOT CLOSE TO UNDERGROUND"

LOCATION: Well situated but not close to an Underground station. We could easily walk to the London Eye and see all the government buildings. Not many restaurants in the area.

RECEPTION: Very Helpful. Worked with us to get us into a room with a table and chairs for us to do our nightly work. We did have to move. Helped us to confirm the reservations for the London Eye. Made sure we had a taxi to go to St. Pancras Station when we left.

ROOM: From our previous trips to Europe, this was a little smaller than usual. Ventilation was OK when we opened the window wide.

BEDS: Worked well, comfortable. Many pillows,

BATHROOMS: Was good but we did have to call maintenance as certain things broke.

WORK SPACE: After they gave us two chairs and a desk, we had a good situation.

INTERNET: Excellent.

BREAKFAST: Super with great choices. Many varieties of fresh fruits, staff worked very hard to keep everything refreshed, as there were large crowds each day.

ELEVATORS: Very fast and we never had to wait more than 30 seconds.

ISSUES: We had to wait a while and then move after we had been given a room. But it worked out OK.

OVERALL: Good hotel but area did not have much of a selection of restaurants or food shops.

HINT: Check all aspects before unpacking.

Hotel Mercure Gare Montparnasse, Paris, France

"PICTURES WE SEE NOT OUR ROOM"

LOCATION: We chose it as we had stayed here before. Close to Metro stations on both sides of the hotel. Many, Many restaurants, etc close by the hotel.

RECEPTION: Everyone we dealt with was outstanding - Hamil, Charlotte, & Danielle. Helped us finding specific things in Paris. Made sure we had everything we needed for our work space.

ROOM: Not as nice as we had before. We were on the first floor and they had to send things to the room. Windows were at ground level, no AC yet, so the open window let in ground sounds and insects.

BEDS: Generally comfortable. Comforters were very thick and very warm.

BATHROOMS: Room was small. Shower enclosure was small therefore lots of water on the floor.

WORK SPACE: They had to bring us a table and chairs for us to do our work. Small area. We had to really adjust.

INTERNET: Very fast - excellent

BREAKFAST: Superb - choices and availability was great for all three days. Lack of tables were the only detriment. Large crowds each morning.

ELEVATORS: We never used them - we walked the stairs.

ISSUES: The new hotel setup was not as welcoming as when we were there earlier. They had renovated - to their detriment.

OVERALL: Nice location and breakfast. Maybe we would stay at the Novotel if we return.

HINT: Price we paid not what companies advertise - GARDEN LEVEL AWFUL!

Les Vieilles Digues B&B, Beauvoir, France

"GREAT EXPERIENCE AND SO WELCOMING"

LOCATION: Very centrally location for the Cotentin Peninsula. Within walking distance of Mont-Saint-Michel. Need a vehicle to drive to eat.

RECEPTION: Danielle was very welcoming and helpful. Always smiled.

ROOM: Clean and well appointed. We had one of the rooms in the new addition. Rooms in the main home were traditionally decorated in French style. Nice patio and chairs for sitting outside. Spacious room with table and chairs for us to work. Many electrical plugs and USB outlets.

BEDS: Comfortable. Additional blankets and pillows.

BATHROOMS: Small but clean and functional. One shelf for toilitries. Hooks on back of door.

WORK SPACE: Had a table and chairs for us to do our nightly writing and digital processing.

INTERNET: Good

BREAKFAST: When travelers are there for more than one day, breakfast options seem to be limited

ELEVATORS: No elevators needed

ISSUES: When cold, she turned on the heat

No AC but fan in the room and doors that open to the outside

OVERALL: We loved staying here and all the help Danielle gave to us. It was a very comfortable B&B. Sure beats an insensitive hotel. Danielle was always available and helpful, giving us suggestions of places to go and things to see - everyone superb.

HINT: This is the best B&B in the area. Read all the reviews. Book EARLY!

Novotel Hotel Charles De Gaulle, Paris, France

https://www.accorhotels.com/gb/hotel-1785-novotel-london-waterloo/index.shtml

"GREAT RECEPTION STAFF - HORRIBLE A/C - AND IT IS ONLY SPRING"

LOCATION: Close to Charles de Gaulle Airport and within 50 steps of the shuttle rail to the terminals.

RECEPTION: Aida was exceptional. Outside temperature was 86 degrees and our room (304) was 77. Aida tried several before we found one that the A/C worked - 305 & 306. She came up to help us.

ROOM: Spartan and even with the "A/C" the room temperature never went below 72 degrees. Our other two choices were horrible.

BEDS: Good beds and well done.

BATHROOMS: Bathroom for the shower and sink and another for the toilet. Toilet room door was heavy and banged at night.

WORK SPACE: Very small table in the room. One stool so we had to use the bed for the other "chair" to type our text and work on our pictures.

INTERNET: Good and effective.

BREAKFAST: It was fine, not as good as our other Novotel hotels we had stayed at in France and England.

ELEVATORS: They worked well and one needs room card to safeguard our hotel stay.

ISSUES: The HEAT at the hotel. Service person came to correct and our room was still over 75 degrees (24 C)

OVERALL: This hotel was the worst facility we stayed at in our two weeks in England and France.

HINT:In the summer check to see if A/C works WELL!
