Day 15 - Tuesday, October 9, 2012 - Flight from Madrid, Spain to Atlanta, Georgia and then to Denver
The wake-up call came at 6:30 and after a brief stop for a little breakfast we were ready to leave. Our bags were loaded and we said good-bye to Laura at the hotel. The traffic was heavy going to the airport at 8:30 for our mid morning flight.
When we arrived at the Madrid-Barajas Airport at 9:00 we went directly to the Sky Lounge and did a little work and caught up on our mail. We boarded our flight to Atlanta at 10:20; we were on a 767-300 ER. It was not until 11:30 that we took off.
The Delta flight attendants were wearing pink for Breast Cancer Month and as usual, they took very good care of us. We shared a lunch and then took a little nap. It was a smooth flight and we were able to read and relax.
Our descent into Atlanta was at 3:00, right on schedule. The Immigration and Custom agents were especially friendly today welcoming us home to the USA.
We had a long layover until our final leg of our journey, three hours, so we went to the Sky Lounge to look at the last day’s photos and write the journal. Vic wrote reviews on our hotels during our stay in Spain. It is always helpful for us to read Trip Advisor before we go and we hope his reviews will assist others as they travel.
The flight to Denver was at 7:30. It was an easy flight with no drama. We collected our bags in DIA at 9:00 and rode the shuttle to the Pikes Peak Long Term Parking. After a brief stop at Safeway to get a few essentials, we finally got home right at 11:00; the fastest we have ever gotten our bags and gotten to our car.
It is always nice to see the world and we loved Spain, but home and our own bed looked pretty good to us!
