Part 1 - Afternoon in Austin, Texas - Saturday, November 24, 2018 - Visit Schoology Office; Butler Hike and Bike Trail Around Lady Bird Lake; Dinner at Pho Please
Our biannual road trip to Austin, Texas for Thanksgiving gave us another opportunity to visit our son, Eduardo. We also completed a few jobs at Eduardo’s home and did some maintenance work on our condo at Brodie Heights.
When our To Do List was completed, we had time to enjoy more of Austin, Eduardo’s adopted home. On Saturday afternoon we drove to the heart of the city to visit his Schoology office in the high rise, One America Center at 6th and Congress Street.
Our next stop was the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail that circles Lady Bird Lake. The trail is about 10 miles long and loops around the reservoir that once served as a cooling pond for the Holly Street Power Plant.
The Lower Colorado River flows right through the heart of Austin and is dammed in two different spots, forming Lake Austin and Lady Bird Lake. The sun was perfect for afternoon photography as we watched many families enjoying bike-riding, kayaking, and hiking on the trail.
