"WELL LOCATED AND GREAT STAFF"

LOCATION: Very good location, easy to walk to the harbor and main streets with great variety of food choices. Many restaurants nearby.

RECEPTION: Friendly, very helpful staff.

ROOM: Large size. Narrow Balcony but gave us a view. Room had a table and two chairs for us as requested so we could work on computers for trip and travel articles.

BEDS: Beds were adequate, a bit soft, extra blankets and pillows in the closet.

BATHROOMS: Nice size, good shower, counter space was fine, hair dryer was old and not functioning well.

WORK SPACE: Two chairs, one broke, but table gave us room to write.

INTERNET: Internet was very good, fast, and reliable.

BREAKFAST: Very nice buffet, large variety of hot and cold items, wait staff was very accommodating and worked very hard and fast.

ELEVATORS: Two elevators, only one was functioning most of the time while we were there for three days.

OVERALL: Would recommend. Very clean and comfortable. Noisy street below but was not a problem after the traffic slowed down at 10/11 PM.

Doupiani House - Kalambaka, Greece

"NICE HOTEL & FRIENDLY OWNERS"

LOCATION: Out of the village center but fantastic views of the rock formations

RECEPTION: Front desk clerk was a bit snippy when we wanted to take our own luggage to the room. The owner was very friendly and brought us an additional chair. Owners were very nice, personable and helpful.

ROOM: We had three beds, a desk, several chairs, and night stands. There was enough room for our big travel bags and to work. We had a balcony that had two chairs and round table. Great for sunset and sunrise views of the rocks.

BEDS: Comfortable beds, extra blankets and plenty of pillows.

BATHROOMS: Shower was small and leaked when taking a shower even though the curtain was tucked in all the way. Did have a floor drain that helped. Large sink.

WORK SPACE: Workable space, but a tight squeeze for two computers.

INTERNET: Variable speeds, during the afternoon it was slow when everyone was on. It got faster later in the evening.

BREAKFAST: There were two groups during our stay so at the 7:30 opening it was crowded. Nice selection of homemade food. Fresh fruit was limited but the apples were good.

ELEVATORS: No elevators, two floors but stairs to the upper level.

OVERALL: Relatively quiet as it was just outside of town. Great view of the rock formations on our side of the building - check room before sign-in. Limited views on the other side of the building

"LOOK HOW EVERYONE IS RATING - ALL ASPECTS"

LOCATION: Small town but beautiful forest location.

RECEPTION: Exceptionally accommodating.

ROOM: Huge suite, living room, bedroom and large bath.

BEDS: Excellent, extra blankets, comfortable beds, and good reading lights.

BATHROOMS: Large soaking tub, large shower, full vanity area with lots of room for storage.

WORK SPACE: Large desk, only one chair but we got another from the deck.

INTERNET: Fast when it worked, occasionally would drop the signal.

BREAKFAST: Everything you would want. Not a huge variety, but hot and cold items. Fruit was limited.

ELEVATORS: No elevators, stairs to our room, reception, and the dining area.

ISSUES: Seemed to be a lot of flies, had to be careful with doors open. There were screens on the bedroom windows.

OVERALL: Excellent – can see why it is an award winning mountain retreat

Hotel Argjiro - Gjirokaster, Albania

"AVERAGE AT BEST - ABANDONED BUILDING NEXT DOOR"

LOCATION: Well placed in the old city. Lots of construction noise and barking dogs until 2:00 am and started up at 5:36 am. Spoke to building manager/owner. Right on a busy street.

RECEPTION: Would not take care of issues. Manager at reception was less than helpful.

ROOM: Supposed to be best room in hotel. Away from the main building on a patio. Plenty of room with a table and two chairs for working. New construction wood smell, but not unpleasant.

BEDS: Great beds, about the best we have had on trip. Extra blankets and pillows as we had a queen size bed and a twin.

BATHROOMS: Shower so small, I could not turn around. I am 6 foot tall and 200 lbs. Bumped water control several times. Bathroom fan covered in dust and lint.

WORK SPACE: Special table and chairs for us. Lots of electric plugs

INTERNET: Worked well, fast and reliable even as far as we were from the office.

BREAKFAST: Very crowded as there was a group of 40 in the hotel eating at the same time. Plentiful food and replaced frequently. Wait staff worked quickly and efficiently.

ELEVATORS: Elevators were fast but as we were on the second floor we took the stairs most of the time.

ISSUES: A/C turned off - temp in room was 74. Argued with manager, who is paying the price for the room? No hot water in morning. No espresso until after 9 AM? Floor of room very dirty - not wiped clean daily. Ask for 3rd floor. View out window. Bar next door that looked in our room.

OVERALL: We were able to do laundry here through the hotel only 10 Euros for a whole bag.

Rogner Hotel - Tirana, Albania

RECEPTION: Very helpful. Gave us extra pillows. Mailed post cards for us.

ROOM: Good size room. Nice beds. AC turned to neutral for season - None available. Window opened for fresh air. Small closet and storage area. Very quiet!!! Room overlooked garden.

Staff was very helpful.

ELEVATORS: Three banks. Very fast.

"TOP FLOOR - GREAT VIEWS OF LAKE"

LOCATION: Great location, right on the lake. Close to shopping, grocery stores and other attractions.

RECEPTION: Excellent, very helpful. Smoking right outside the front door by hotel employees, smoke went into the hotel vent fans.

ROOM: Very good top floor, window over-looking the lake. Did not have a balcony as some did, but size was adequate.

BATHROOMS: Well laid out. No tub. Shower worked well. Hair dryer was good. Soap and shampoo replaced every day.

WORK SPACE: One desk. Brought us another chair. All plugs worked. Light over desk.

INTERNET: Sporadic Internet but could upload our work material. Not strong enough to upload a video.

BREAKFAST: Basic breakfast, coffee was good. Fresh fruit and bananas every day.

ELEVATORS: Fast elevators. Two available.

ISSUES: Many room lights did not work.

OVERALL: Very good. Location was great.

Hotel Stonebridge - Skopje, Macedonia

http://stonebridge-hotel.com/

"Center of City, Spacious Room BUT Horrible Internet"

LOCATION: EXCELLENT - Center of the capital. Great views of the bridges and statues

RECEPTION: Tried hard to solve our problems.

ROOM: We had what is considered to be one of the best rooms in the hotel. Large living and bedroom. Tiny bathroom. Temperature was 78 when we entered. Took 3 visits to front desk and one phone call to solve the problem. No A/C after October 1. Carpet should have been replace long time ago. Carpet seams are visible and thread-bare with cracks.

BEDS: OK, but bed cover is shorter and narrower than the bed.

BATHROOMS: Water leak from shower onto the floor all the time. Shower stall is very poorly put together - base has big gasps with the top. Bathroom is for one person only at a time. Lights burned out. Vent is caked in lint and dust.

WORK SPACE: Had more than needed.

INTERNET: Internet was the worst we have had in Greece, Albania and Macedonia. It was PATHETICALLY POOR.

BREAKFAST: OK but kept running out of food. Person in charge was on the cell phone and not paying attention. I had to speak to him 3 times for yogurt, eggs, and bread. Horrible coffee - machine kept breaking. I love strong coffee and this was almost burned.

ELEVATORS: Two, really rumbled. Slow.

ISSUES: In the center of town and internet that lost connectivity all the time for 2 days. Management!!! No way is this good! Spend a little money and get the net to work correctly.

OVERALL: I would not give anymore than 3 stars and probably 2.
