Day 03 - Friday, September 22, 2017 - Home Sweet Home
Our get-away to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park was a reminder of the beauty of Colorado and how easy it is to travel in our home state. After our breakfast at the motel we thanked the staff and turned in our key cards.
The Silver Saddle is a distance from town, but we would recommend the Best Western for cleanliness, the great breakfast buffet, and the friendly group of people who treated us so well.
At 9:15 we traveled back to the town of Estes Park, turned south on Highway 36 and saw another large herd of elk grazing on the municipal golf course. One of the ladies at the hotel told us that golfing on the links was a challenge as one had to play around the elk and through their droppings.
Highway 36 took us to Lyons and then we went straight east on Colorado 66 to the interstate. Traffic was heavy with everyone heading to work or to his or her destinations but we knew it would be better to get home during the morning traffic than to face the afternoon rush hour.
We made a short stop in Castle Rock for a few groceries and we were home by noon. Our friend, Tim had left everything in order and Buddha was at the back door reminding us he was not happy to be home alone.
In a few hours the laundry was done, the plants were watered, and the three birdbaths refilled. As dry as it has been, our neighborhood birds, fox, raccoons, and deer were all thirsty.
We had seen so many beautiful sites in two short days, these highlight photos will remind you to visit Colorful Colorado.
Stay tuned to GarciaTrips as we will be traveling again in October to Northern Greece, Albania, and Macedonia. Thank you for reading about our adventures and for your comments.
