Brasil - SP&Pantanal - Day 5
Our maps now have more custom features! As we are carrying a GPS unit with us, everyone can now follow our trip's adventures in more precise
detail. For example, the tear-shaped icons are particular "waypoints" during the day; click on them to see where we
were and the exact time we were there. The new maps also allow you to zoom in to see specifically where walked, drove, flew, etc. for that day.
Zoom in as tight as possible to see where we wandered and explored the areas, or zoom out to see a travel overview of our daily adventure.

We saw the sun today! The weather was great; a beautiful winter day at the Aldeia! The temperatures were in the mid 60s and it was not as humid.
After our breakfast with Tia and Bob, the manicurist came to spend the day with the family. First she worked on Tia, then Paula, Lia, and Luciana had their turn getting their nails done.
When Renata came back she was next and then Gennie – all with beautiful manicured fingernails… Taking care of the hands that take care of all of us….
During this time, Bob and I worked on the internet, Gennie checked her UOP accounts, and Thomas watched the Brazil women’s volleyball team. Brazil is running away with this tournament – and will play the USA tomorrow.
The family gathered for a traditional Saturday family churrasco. All of Tia’s children and their spouses were here except for Oswaldo who had to work at his new restaurant.
With the grandchildren, Bob, Gennie, and I were 14! Tia Isa is so welcoming and makes each gathering so special with foods that we all remember from the years we have spent together in the past.
When we finished our huge lunch of grilled beef, salad, more beef, rice and beans, more beef, and corn, we had fresh pineapple and mango for dessert.
A walk seemed just what we all needed so we walked all the way to Lia’s home in another subdivision and enjoyed a coffee with her. I took photos all the way – there were gorgeous flowers, orchids growing on the trees, and even in the winter, many beautiful blossoms.
While we were there, Lia arranged for Gennie and me to call our son Eduardo on Skype. We had to reconnect several times, but it was wonderful talking to him and hearing of his adventures for the week.
As soon as we got back from Lia’s we took the time to sort through the photos and start writing the journal for the day. Isa teased me that we had not done anything to write about today – and we have been busy the whole day!
We joined the whole group again for pizza at another smaller restaurant, Monte Viso, the one we have enjoyed in other trips to visit the family.
The pizza was great – plenty to go around with lots of chatter and family jokes from years gone by. For dessert Lia’s oldest daughter Paula had made a famous chocolate treat – brigadeiros – of course Gennie was in heaven with all of that chocolate!
Our flight to the state of Mato Grosso do Sul is early tomorrow morning. We leave from the inner city airport, Congonhas and we will arrive in Campo Grande by noon.
We finished up the journal and the photos and then packed for our next adventure – The Pantanal!
